Gamba Vineyards and Winery Current Releases
2007 Gamba Zinfandel Russian River Valley Bottle Price: $35. We are very excited to offer this new vintage of our wonderful family ranches cuvee, “Russian River Valley”, a blend of treasured family owned old vine grapes blended with extraordinary younger vine blocks. The family ranches included in our 2007 cuvee of Gamba Zinfandel Russian River Valley are the Gamba Estate Vineyard, Moratto, Fistolera, and Krist Vineyards. This limited second release of Gamba Zinfandel Russian River Valley is very special, as the 2007 vintage marks our first wines fermented on natural indigenous yeasts, bringing out the rich ripened Zinfandel fruit in its pure form, deep in flavor and supple in texture. The grapes were harvested at the peak of flavor, hand sorted in the vineyard, and again at crush, allowing only the best, even and consistent dark, small berry clusters for crush. Harvest yields were low, from approximately as low as ½ ton/acre. Tasting Notes: Aromas of ripe raspberry fill the bowl of the glass of this dazzling ruby colored nectar. Balanced and concentrated, the two focus points we strive to achieve in our wines, are delivered in spades with this effort. The effusive fruit profile bursts forth, framed proportionately with a fine balance of acidity, while showing layers of spiciness, mildly integrated oak components, and soft tannins. Aged exclusively in American oak, this enjoyable wine is ready to drink now, and will cellar age gracefully over the next 3-5 years from the vintage date.
